Singapore Reopens With No Pre Departure Testing Required

The Far East has been off-limits for travel for over two years which has only added to the anticipation of visiting the region. But towards the end of March 2022, Singapore announced that as of 1st April 2022, many travel restrictions would be relaxed for those that are fully vaccinated.

The Vaccinated Travel Lanes (VTL) system in place was abolished and only a pre-departure test was required 48 hours before flying to Singapore. This undoubtedly caused many to rejoice as Singapore is one of the most visited countries in the world.

Whilst many thought that this was good news, Singapore once again announced even more great news! As of 26th April 2022, all fully vaccinated travellers flying to Singapore will no longer be required to present a negative pre-departure test. All that is required is proof of being fully vaccinated.

For many weeks, Singapore has been making efforts to drop its many travel restrictions and has now dropped the vast majority of them. This move almost brings the country to the state it was before the pandemic. To boost tourism and encourage more travellers, many of the country’s domestic restrictions have also been dropped, making it a more approachable place for those looking for a long-haul vacation.

Some rules remain in place such as the wearing of face masks on public transport and in indoor public venues. But apart from that, visitors are encouraged to travel to Singapore and soak up what it has to offer!

Whether you’re a first time visitor or looking to return, be sure to visit Little India to immerse yourself in the colourful streets and marketplaces. If you’re looking to be bedazzled, head over to the Gardens of the Bay where you can see the Cloud Forest and be taken back by views from the Supertree Observatory. Don’t forget to make your way up to the SkyPark Observation Deck for some awesome views of the country’s cityscape and panoramic views of the sea! For food, head over to one of Singapore’s famous hawker centres where you can grab a cheap yet delicious meal just like the locals!
