Modern wonders on sand

Everything in Dubai is bigger and better, and all of it risen from the sand.

In 1966, Sheikh Rashid utilised oil revenues to develop an infrastructure in Dubai, and today this hustling, bustling city is a magnet for tourism, business and employment.  These investments have paid off handsomely and UAE has become one of the richest countries in the world

Dubai boasts luxury shopping, ultramodern architecture, unmatchable hotels, world-class sporting events and a lively nightlife scene.

The biggest tower in the world stands at 830 metres in height and is found in Dubai. Burj Khalifa dominates the skyscraper-filled skyline of this vibrant city. It cost $1.5 billion dollars to construct; at its foot lies the man-made 30-acre long Burj Khalifa Lake which forms a foundation for the Dubai Fountain – the world’s largest choreographed fountain system, with powerful jets and beautiful lights.

Dubai is home to 200 man-made islands which were constructed from 5.5 million cubic metres of pure rock and 94 million cubic metres of sand – no steel or iron were used to form their base.

The beautiful Burj Al Arab hotel presides over the coastline of Jumeirah beach at 1,053 feet high and is unique in that it is the world’s only seven-star hotel. This iconic structure sits gracefully on its very own man-made isle, held together by sand and offering luxurious services such as helicopter rides, and tennis courts 1,000 metres above the ground.

Such a well planned development of a city built on sand means that there is something for everyone. You can do a spot of shopping, dispense pure gold from a cash point, soak up the sun on a beach, get the adrenaline rushing at a theme park or explore mountains and deserts to investigate the origins of this modern city.

Dubai – the land of modern wonders beautifully raised from the sand awaits your discovery.
