THE DATAI LANGKAWI LAUNCHES LUXURIOUS NEW SPA TREATMENTS

The Datai Spa offers guests the chance to embrace the traditional Malay concept of Ramuan.

Beautifully integrated into the backdrop of an ancient rainforest, The Datai Spa offers guests one of the world’s most stunning locations in which to truly relax. This unique spa, housed in four open-air villas, situated along a winding stream, draws from the ancient Malay concept of Ramuan and all of its new spa treatments reflect this. Its refreshed signature treatments include Tungku Batu (‘heart of stone’) massage, Synchronised Massage and Traditional Massage.

Immersive and therapeutic, The Datai Spa enables guests to experience local rituals and traditional herbal remedies, made from rare ingredients gathered in the surrounding rainforest, in order to relax, rejuvenate and reconnect with nature. Enveloped by the tranquil sights, meditative sounds and subtle scents of the jungle, each secluded spa villa features indoor and outdoor showers, with a spacious river-view soaking tub – perfect for one or a couple.

The Datai Spa’s offering combines the very best of ancient healing traditions and harnesses the healing power of jungle plants, following local shamans’ thousand year old secret recipes. Ramuan is a uniquely Malay concept. On the simplest level, it refers to the deliberate and intelligent gathering and mixing of medicinal plants. In its purest essence, it reflects the conscious awareness to nurture a healthy, balanced and holistic attitude to life.

The Datai Spa draws from these ancient teaching and the healing potential of the rainforest environment. Inspired by Malay healers of old, who believed inner and outer beauty to be interdependent, The Datai Spa experience is designed to nourish and strengthen body and soul, to invigorate the mind. Signature massages from the new spa menu include:

– Tungku Batu, ‘heart of stone’ massage: a signature hot stone treatment renowned for reducing pain and increasing blood circulation. A river stone is heated with a selection of rainforest herbs and applied to muscles and pressure points. A massage, using ginger, cinnamon, lime, pandan leaf and black cumin infused oil, completes the experience.

– Synchronised Massage: A dynamic style to dissolve deep muscle tension and soothe the spirit. Two therapists work in synchronised movements using a variety of massage techniques from around the globe including Japanese Shiatsu, Ancient Balinese, Traditional Thai and Hawaiian Lomi-Lomi.

– Traditional Massage: A light yet profound massage, using blends of relaxing herbal oils, healing techniques and long soothing massage stroked to bring a sense of calm and nourishment to your being.

Other experiences on offer include Harnn Rituals, using products from the Harnn range, Rejuvenating Beauty Rituals for calming facials, Purifying Body Rituals for relaxing baths, as well as Kids Rituals for younger guests aged between 8 – 12 years.
