Sha‘ban is a spiritually rich month in the Islamic calendar—a time when deeds are raised to Allah and hearts are prepared for Ramadan. While there are no obligatory du‘as fixed specifically for Sha‘ban, scholars recommend increasing forgiveness, salawat, and sincere personal supplication during this blessed month.
Below is a carefully curated feature on the most beneficial duas to read in Sha‘ban, supported by Islamic tradition and widely practiced by the Ummah.
1. Istighfar (Seeking Forgiveness)
Sha‘ban is the month of spiritual cleansing. Frequent istighfar softens the heart and prepares the soul for Ramadan.
Arabic:
أَسْتَغْفِرُ اللّٰهَ وَأَتُوبُ إِلَيْهِ
Meaning:
I seek forgiveness from Allah and repent to Him.
This du‘a can be recited at any time, especially in the quiet hours of the night.
2. Sending Salawat upon the Prophet ﷺ
Sha‘ban is known as the month of sending blessings upon the Prophet ﷺ. Increasing salawat brings mercy, barakah, and closeness to Allah.
Arabic:
اللَّهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلَىٰ مُحَمَّدٍ وَعَلَىٰ آلِ مُحَمَّدٍ
Meaning:
O Allah, send blessings upon Muhammad and upon the family of Muhammad.
3. Du‘a to Reach Ramadan
A widely loved supplication asking Allah to allow us to reach Ramadan with health and iman.
Arabic:
اللَّهُمَّ بَارِكْ لَنَا فِي شَعْبَانَ وَبَلِّغْنَا رَمَضَانَ
Meaning:
O Allah, bless us in Sha‘ban and allow us to reach Ramadan.

4. Du‘a for the 15th Night of Sha‘ban (Laylat al-Nisf min Sha‘ban)
Many scholars permit this du‘a for personal supplication, even though its chain is debated.
Meaning (Summary):
O Allah, if You have written me as deprived or unhappy, erase it and write me among the blessed, successful, and provided.
5. Make Personal Du‘a from the Heart
Sha‘ban is one of the best times to speak directly to Allah. Ask for:
- Forgiveness and mercy
- A clean and sincere heart
- Strength in faith
- Ease and consistency in Ramadan
- Healing, guidance, and provision
Du‘a can be made in any language—Allah hears every sincere call.
Sha‘ban is a bridge between ordinary days and the extraordinary mercy of Ramadan. Filling it with du‘a, istighfar, and salawat ensures we arrive at Ramadan spiritually awake and ready.
May Allah accept our supplications and allow us to reach Ramadan in the best state of iman. Ameen.
