Eid Get Together

The Piece Hall in Halifax is to host an Eid Get Together, on Saturday 22 May from 10am-6pm. Visitors are invited to come together with family and friends in a safe, outdoor space. The free event will be an opportunity for people to reconnect with each other in the beautiful setting of The Piece Hall’s Georgian courtyard.

On offer will be a great selection of food to enjoy, alongside stalls selling a range of scarves and jewellery. Visitors will also be able to purchase personalised calligraphy and have henna painted by the talented duo Hammad and Ammara Haider, with light-touch music for a relaxing atmosphere. The Piece Hall’s restaurants, cafes, and independent shops will also be open to enjoy a bite to eat or spot of shopping.

Even though the Government has relaxed COVID restrictions, visitor health and safety remains a priority. All entrance gates are staffed, and visitors will be asked to sanitise their hands as they enter, as well as being asked if they have experienced any COVID-19 symptoms. Importantly, the number of visitors will be constantly monitored to ensure people can safely enjoy the event. Outdoor seating is also spaced across the courtyard so households can enjoy food and drink socially distanced. Visitors will be asked to wear face coverings inside the shops, cafes and restaurants and in the stairwells, lifts and toilet facilities.

With charitable giving being at the heart of Eid, The Piece Hall is welcoming donations of food and toiletries on behalf of local charities; Calderdale Lighthouse, Moonlight Trust, Gathering Place and St Augustine’s Centre. Donations can be made at The Piece Hall’s Visitor Centre.

Nicky Chance-Thompson DL, Chief Executive of The Piece Hall Trust, said:

“We look forward to welcoming people to celebrate Eid at The Piece Hall with their family and friends and be together, after what has been an incredibly difficult year.

At this time of reflection and helping and caring for others, we are pleased to be able to support four fantastic local charities as part of our Month of Giving campaign, and any donations; whether food items or money, will be very gratefully received.”
