This is a recipe “longtan” (in creole this means old fashioned) it’s so humble and a classic recipe that has passed down from generations of Mauritians.
This transforms the grain of rice into something delicious.
Typically eaten for breakfast or as a afternoon snack with a lovely cup of Mauritian vanilla tea… It’s perfect for my lockdown cooking recipes because you only need 5 ingredients and this makes 12 – 15 balls
Rice 150g
Milk150ml (can use vegan m1lk)
Sugar 40g
Cardamom 1/2tsp
Desiccated coconut 3tbsp
Top up with 250-300ml water depending on how much you need
