If you’re looking for a reason to head to the Maldives this autumn, Siyam World has rather a good one. The five-star island resort is celebrating its fifth birthday from 23–31 October 2026 with a week-long programme combining sporting legends, family adventures, Maldivian culture and, naturally, a suitably theatrical spooky experience.
The celebrations begin with England rugby star Danny Care, who will host a three-day children’s rugby camp from 23–25 October. Whether young guests are already rugby enthusiasts or are simply picking up a ball for the first time, the sessions promise plenty of opportunities to learn new skills, train with the former England international and, most importantly, have fun.
From 26–30 October, it’s football’s turn as former England defender Gary Cahill and England Lionesses star Millie Bright take over the pitch. Young guests can join coaching sessions, matches and challenges, with the chance to learn from two players who have competed at the very highest level of the game.
There’s plenty happening away from the sporting fields, too. Families can take part in a colourful Kids’ Carnival, while the Amazing Race will send teams across the island tackling clues and challenges. The 3K Fun Run offers another way to explore the resort, whether you’re aiming for a personal best or simply taking a leisurely stroll around the island.
Then there’s cinema – Siyam World style. Cinema by Moonlight takes movie night onto the lagoon, with guests watching from a boat beneath the Maldivian night sky. For something even more unusual, a floating drive-in experience lets guests arrive by JetCar, park on the water and enjoy a film from the lagoon.
On 28 October, the resort officially turns five, and the focus shifts firmly to the Maldives. The day will celebrate Maldivian food, music, traditions and creativity, culminating in a special birthday production. As Sara Siyam, Director of Marketing at Sun Siyam, explains, the milestone is ultimately about celebrating the destination and the people who have helped shape Siyam World over its first five years.
And then comes the spooky experience.
On 31 October, CULT CLASSICS promises to transform the resort into an immersive celebration of horror nostalgia, bringing iconic characters including Freddy Krueger, Pennywise, Leatherface and Jason to the island. Expect themed sets, live performances, theatrical encounters and plenty of opportunities to question whether that noise behind you was actually part of the show.
The nine-day celebration certainly packs a lot in – from international sporting stars and family activities to Maldivian culture and an unforgettable evening of spooky entertainment.
