The New Islam Channel Bangla Launches Today

Islam Channel has gone the extra mile by introducing a new and unique Bangla Channel that will cater to the fast-growing Bengali-speaking UK community. With programmes based on entertainment, education, religion and news, the hope is to reach out to a large audience in the country.

Whilst many ethnic minority communities are ignored in the UK, the Bangladeshi community in specific is usually marginalised. For them, this new launch will mean access to content that is usually difficult to find for them. Many eagerly await the launch and hope the channel will serve them well in times of confusion and lack of access to reliable content.

Exciting Times

Imam Abul Hussain of East London Mosque told Islam Channel why he believes this to be a step in the right direction: “In our Bangladeshi community, we have many other TV channels but very few that serve Islam properly.”

Islam Channel mentions, “It will be our third channel available to UK viewers on the Sky platform, joining Islam Channel and Islam Channel Urdu and will also be available to view worldwide online.”

Islam Channel spoke to the Head of Production for Islam Change Bangla, Tauhidul Karim Mujahid, who said, “It’s exciting. I’ve worked with other channels here in the UK and abroad and everyone knows about Islam Channel. It’s a very big brand.”

With a population of around 450,000 Bangladeshis in the UK, the demand for such a channel is immense. When the channel is launched, UK and Bangladesh scholars will join on air for the big moment.

Islam Channel Bangla will be launching on October 17 after Maghrib prayers (6 PM) on Sky channel 784. Viewers are urged to take part in the big launch where scholars from Bangladesh and the UK will be joining in.
