Rishi Sunak To Become Next Prime Minister

Rishi Sunak is set to become the next PM of Great Britain.

Aged only 42, he will be recorded as the youngest PM in more than two centuries and will be the first British Prime Minister of colour.

After being crowned as the new Tory Leader, he spoke about “stability” and “unity” in his first address to the country.

Mr Sunak said: “The United Kingdom is a great country. But there is no doubt we face a profound economic challenge. We now need stability, and unity, and I will make it my utmost priority to bring our party and our country together.”

Promising to serve the nation, he also said: “I pledge that I will serve you with integrity and humility, and I will work day in, day out to deliver for the British people.

In his address, he also spoke about the economic challenges facing the people of the nation today.

The United Kingdom is a great country, but there is no doubt we face a profound economic challenge.”

Although Sunak has been crowned PM today, the BBC tells us that Liz Truss ‘would remain in Downing Street for at least another day, and that there would be no transition of power today.’

Sunak’s Stance on Issues Facing The Country

Although his address lasted less than 90 seconds, he has previously spoken about the three key issues facing the country.

According to a report by BBC, Sunak plans to ‘reform all EU laws still in place by next general election and scrap inherited EU financial regulations.’ He also plans to scrap the 5% VAT on domestic energy bills for next year. On the more controversial end of things, Sunak also plans to cap the number of asylum claims and make the rules around applying for asylum stricter.
