The Esplanade in Newquay set to reopen after extensive refurbishment

In eager pursuit of a four-star rating, popular beachside hotel, The Esplanade in Newquay, Cornwall, is set to reopen its doors as the ultimate holiday ‘coastal cocktail’ destination. Mixing chilled stylish interiors, food and drink, and a new boutique cinema on the inside with super fun, sea-inspired action-packed experiences outside for multi-gen families, couples and groups looking to make the most of one of the UK’s hottest staycation destinations.

The Esplanade Hotel is operated by Philema Hospitality Management who have smartly used the lockdown closure period to undergo an extensive investment programme. The complete refurbishment of the destination hotel in the staycation hotspot has been an impressive multimillion-pound investment which has been guided by the feedback of their loyal guests who have made suggestions of the extra facilities, services, and decor that they would love to see at the hotel.

The popular hotel, which boasts the beach as its ultimate playground, has fully renovated all of its bedrooms, communal areas and exterior to reflect a cool, laidback, coastal feel that perfectly harmonises with the sensational natural surroundings. Here, nautical blue hues marry beautifully with earthy neutral tones, really bringing the beach home whilst firmly channelling coastal chic. Soft furnishings complement tongue and groove panelling, creating a relaxing beachside hideaway that oozes carefree dwelling for families, couples and friends by the sea – all in symbiosis with the natural elements.

In addition, the hotel has reduced the number of its bedrooms from 90 to 85, having made substantial upgrades and extensions, creating bigger spaces to accommodate larger, possibly multi-generational families. Each family room will be equipped with cosy dressing gowns for the kids and the grown-ups, encouraging lazy lounging and the bathrooms will be stocked with GAIA Skincare and children’s toiletries to help lessen the load whilst packing.

From 17th May, guests can take full advantage of the brand-new boutique classic-style 30-seated cinema room which will showcase various family-favourite flicks four times each day. Whilst the kids get engrossed in the big screen munching on popcorn, parents can escape to the also-brand-new, stylish, adults-only cocktail bar. With artwork adorning the walls, Elements will feature an open fire and live music on the weekends and most importantly, a large array of tempting virgin cocktails.

The UK’s adventure capital, Newquay is more appealing to families than ever before. Located overlooking the rolling waves of iconic surf beach, Fistral, the Esplanade Hotel is home to the Quiksilver Surf School, offering an exhilarating array of al fresco adventure experiences from surfing to coasteering to bodyboarding.

For rainy days, the hotel houses an expansive leisure area fitted with a heated indoor pool, a hot tub, and sauna. Guests can also take advantage of the indoor family soft play area, relocated nearer the restaurant area, and an outdoor pirate ship ready-built for adventures, so smaller guests can make the most of pre and post dining plays, whilst parents can relax and enjoy their dining experience carefree.

The impressive newly renovated Cove Restaurant, set within the hotel overlooking the Atlantic Ocean will remain open for all-day dining, becoming the hub for foodies and taking on a new dining concept as the hotel introduces its flexible dining package. The concept allows guests to dine their way, on their time as the hotel recognises that not all families are on the same schedule. A monetary amount is allocated per day for dining, meaning guests can use this on lunch, light bites, afternoon tea, supper or dinner, depending on their individual plans and family members requirements. Guests can enjoy a restriction-free menu of location-influenced dishes, catering to all tastes, to enjoy whilst soaking up the stunning seascapes of the famous Fistral Beach morning, noon, and night.

Partner Director, Laura Cameron says, “The Esplanade Hotel is our much-loved family-friendly hotel and families love coming here year after year to enjoy the natural playground that surrounds us as well as our exceptional facilities. The winter months, during the national lockdown, proved to be a useful time for us as a company to reinvest and we used this time wisely to reduce the quantity of our rooms and increase the quality, upgrading every single one. We are always in pursuit of perfection, across all of our operations, and we hope to achieve four-star status for The Esplanade this year. We have a full operations team who have been training for the past couple of months in preparation for opening. That aside, we are so looking forward to welcoming guests back to our revamped proposition and we hope they like the changes that we have made.”

The Esplanade Hotel will also be offering additional services including free kids’ activities and activity packs to keep the little ones entertained and is set to launch a babysitting service of the evening so that couples can enjoy date nights child and stress-free.

Room rate: from £160 DBB for a Standard Double.
