Skate at Somerset House with Fortnum & Mason will return to its iconic 181h-century site on 18 November, heralding the start of winter in the capital.

With an unrivalled Central London location moments away from Covent Garden and the West End, yet sheltered from the hustle and bustle of the city, skating at Somerset House has become one at Landon’s favourite winter experiences. Offering an array of activities both on and off the ice, Skate at Somerset House with Fortnum & Mason is the perfect place to a romantic date, a fun family day out or evening celebrations with friends.

On the ice, revellers can skate ’til late at Club Nights, which will see DJs from the best international festivals, clubs and record labels take over the rink-side decks. Party goers will have the chance to dance after dark to House and Hip Hop, Reggae and R&B, Disco and Funk from the likes of Bestival’s Rob da Bank, Ministry of Sound, Island Records, and The South London Soul Train.

On the evening at 22 November, skaters will be able ta glide around ta the musical stylings of live Jazz musicians and DJs, thanks to a new collaboration with EFG London Jazz Festival.

Whether a seasoned skater or a beginner looking to learn, Skate School is available throughout the season, offering single lessons and courses with accredited NISA instructors tor all ages and abilities. For young children taking their first steps on the ice, there’s the Polar Cub Club, designed exclusively for under-8s.

Off the ice, Fortnum & Mason will once again be taking over Somerset House’s West Wing with shopping pop-up The Christmas Arcade and Fortnum’s Lodge, the apres-Skate restaurant and bar. The seasonal arcade showcases the best of Fortnum’s gifts, gourmet fare and fashion accessories while also offering a range of Christmas decorations designed exclusively to Somerset House.

Fortnum’s Lodge will serve a delicious seasonal menu tilled with Fortnum’s favourite dishes, warming winter drinks and a new Botanical Bar will offer a specially curated cocktail menu.(not halal).

Somerset House’s extensive cultural programme will continue to run throughout the season and will include the major winter exhibition Big Bang Data in December, free and family-friendly display TINTIN: Herge’s Masterpiece in November, and performances by contemporary ice-dancing quintet Le Patin Libre in January.
